Elon Musk Announces X's Potential Expansion into Payment Services in New York and California

In a significant development, Elon Musk stated that X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, could soon be granted payment licenses in New York and California. This move is a crucial step towards Musk's vision of transforming X into an "everything app," akin to Tencent's WeChat in China.

For X to offer services across the United States, obtaining a money transmitter license in each state is essential. Some states, including Pennsylvania and Utah, have already approved these licenses for X, marking significant progress in its nationwide rollout of payment services.

During the Morgan Stanley technology, media, and telecom conference, Musk, who also leads Tesla and SpaceX, highlighted that approvals in New York and California are particularly crucial due to their large populations and stringent regulatory environments. He anticipates receiving the California license shortly, with New York's approval expected in the coming months.

Musk also discussed potential changes to X, such as removing the visibility of likes and reposts to reduce visual clutter on the platform. This aligns with his broader strategy to streamline user experience as X expands its features beyond traditional social media functionalities.

This development underscores Elon Musk's ambitious plans for X, moving closer to offering comprehensive payment features that could revolutionize the platform's role in the digital and financial ecosystem.
